WATER INTENDED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Plumbing Day was celebrated a few days ago, where one of the topics covered was precisely that of water as a human right.

The definition “water intended for human consumption” means treated or untreated water for drinking purposes, for the preparation of food and drinks or for other domestic uses.

The EU wants to ensure that tap water is safe to drink throughout the EU, which is why the Council adopted its position on the proposed revision of the Drinking Water Directive: the new Drinking Water Directive (DWD), dated February 2020, is the reference standard for the quality of water intended for human consumption for all EU countries.

The proposed new rules update the quality standards for drinking water and introduce a risk-based and cost-effective method of monitoring water quality.

We always remember our motto: water is an essential good and it is our job to safeguard it and take care of it.
